The Best of Barra de Navidad, Jalisco

• Best Food:   Sambuca's now located under the big tree near the end of Veracruz, was on the beach across from the big Hotel Alondra. The restaurant at the Coco Cabañas is a close second. The Coco Cabañas is located on Playa del Cocos, accessed by the Isla de Navidad road, not by boat. It is a remote location, so reservations should be made in advance to insure they have supplies for your meal. At the time I ate there the restaurant featured Thai cuisine by chef Jason Floyd. Unfortunately that chef is no longer there. Open for dinner and for lunch by request.

• Best Bar:   Piper's 7 Lovers
• Best Seafood:   Bananas, Fortinos, Popeye's, Restaurant Colimilla (take a lancha to Colimilla or drive through Isla de Navidad)
  Mozoka, and Fredi's on the highway in Jaluco have all been mentioned.
• Best Pizza:   Anbar by the sea.
• Best Baked Goods:   French Bakery
• Best Hamburger:   Seamasters Large patty with plenty of condiments. You may have to ask for it if it's not on the menu.
• Best BBQ Ribs:   Seamasters 100 pesos for a plate full.
• Best Liquados:   Loncheria Karina
• Best Happy Hour:   Sunset Bar. Alondra is also mentioned.
• Best Hospitality (of foreigners):   Piper y Lovers
• Best Mexican Restaurant:   I'm not sure yet, but Ramon's, Mexico Lindo, and Ayala have been mentioned.
  also a new place, Mama Nena, across from Posada Pacifico.
• Best Breakfast:   Ramon's only place in town that can poach an egg just right. Everything fresh and great. Bananas in the Hotel Barra de Navidad, is a very close second.
• Best Romantic Dining:   Mar y Tierra. Also mentioned is Isadora's on the lagoon.
• Best Pastel de Tres Leches:   Norma's Pasteles, at the end of Lopez de Legazpi.
• Best Fishing:   Mary Chuy, also Z-Pesca
• Best Butcher:   The one on Indian Ocean in the Barrio
• Best Street Food:   Taqueria Ramos, in the barrio.

• Best Tacos:   Tacos adobadas, around the corner from the ice factory
  also try Carnitas Tacos on the corner across from the Alondra Hotel
• Best Quesadillas:   Who? Located almost at the end of Veracruz between Jalisco and Morelos. Open in the evenings and on weekends.
• Best View:   Rooftop deck/bar at the Hotel Alondra
• Best Surfing:   Next to the Jetty
