The Ferruginous Pygmy-owl is a very small owl (búho in Spanish) found from Mexico through Central and South America in forests and coastal scrub. It nests in the cavities of trees and cactus. Its diet includes insects, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and small mammals. It is active both daytime and nighttime. It is often attacked by groups of small birds.
