La Huerta de Don Juan |
Restaurante Don Juan is located in the community of Barra de Navidad Colotepec at the mouth of the Río Colotepec, about 4 miles SE of Puerto Escondido. The restaurant is situated by itself in a coconut grove on the bank of the river which at this point is a wide expanse of sand and water. The river attracts birds so is a good place for bird-watchers to relax with a cold drink in the shade of the palms. Don Juan is open every day for breakfast and lunch until 7pm.

One reader reports that some tourists were assaulted at a neighboring restaurant further down where the river meets the ocean. December 2010.
